The Process

-  Give me a call on 075 45 62 35 39 or send me an email on sdgardendesign@gmail.com

-   The Initial consultation is usually free. It takes about an hour, during which I will look at your garden and discuss your brief and budget.

-   If required, I can supply you with a checklist of ‘needs and wants’, some clients find this a useful tool to help focus on what they really want from their outdoor space.

-   After this meeting I will write to you confirming the brief and the costs of undertaking the project.

-   If you agree with the brief and the costs a design contract will be sent. This confirms all your requirements for the garden and gives a fixed price for the design. This covers a site survey, Presentation Plans, Planting Plans and, if appropriate, Construction Detailing.

-   Once instructed to move ahead to the design stage I will need to do a site survey and analysis. Usually 1 day on site. I survey the space to ascertain levels, dimensions, drainage, aspect, soil pH and any other elements that may affect the design process. For larger schemes you may need to employ the services of a surveyor.

-   Approximately 4 weeks after the survey, depending on the complexity and size of your garden, I will present initial concepts drawn to scale, mood boards for materials and planting suggestions illustrating creative solutions to your brief and begin to bring your project to life.

-   Once you are happy with the design the final drawing will be prepared.

-  An accurate estimation of costs can be prepared for the hard landscape.

-  Construction drawings and setting out plans – required for bespoke features and complex sites

-   If necessary I can write a full specification document for tender purposes.

-  I can monitor the construction stage and provide a planting out service.

-  I complete the Planting Plans together with plant lists that are sent to nurseries to obtain prices. Please ask for a quote even if I haven’t designed your garden I am delighted to talk plants

-   To  ensure that your garden grows and develops a highly skilled maintenance team will nurture it during its early stages and beyond.
